Pictures Galore

on February 2, 2012

My wife and I are shutterbugs. We have terabytes of photos of our travels and our life.  However, we’ll be needing LOTS of new space for all of the photos we have of JJ. We’re trying to at least snap daily to document his growth and changes, but it seems like we’re always running out of space.

We know we have friends and family spanning the globe who hungrily appreciate and analyze every photo we post, so we’ll do our best to keep you fed. I must admit that I don’t know parents in the past did it between buying film, developing it and mailing the prints out. Now, all I have to do is pull out my phone, snap a pic/video and hit upload and boom it’s around the world. Amazing!

In case you’re around JJ, be sure to turn off your flash. His little eyes are sensitive to light so we don’t use flash around him. Also, don’t be sad if he doesn’t smile. He can’t yet.  We sometimes catch reflex smiles that are theorized to happen for survival reasons. The gist of it is that if people melt over these little smiles, they’ll be fed and cared for. However, a real, purposeful smile usually doesn’t happen until around 2 months as evidenced by the smile’s length and the newborn’s eyes.

2/3/12 UPDATE: So, JJ has been smiling for about the past week and is officially 2 months today.  It looks like he’s right on track, if not a little early!
